This morning, on my way to work, I was listening to the news. The 2008 stats were released on Canada’s leading cause of death. For the first time in Canadian history The leading cause of death that year was cancer, right across the country all 10 Provinces and 3 Territories, Heart Attack and Stroke fell to 2nd in most parts of Canada. Awareness is so absolutely critical to stopping this monster. Awareness or the information needed to change our lifestyle, to slow its progress. Much has gone on in research, especially the new area of genetic research called epigenetics. In time we may be able to just simply turn cancer cells off. Wouldn’t that be nice. But until then we need to understand what we need to do to make us more resiliant to that blight. The following link is to my Mo-page. Movember, the name given to the fund-raising campaign for prostate cancer, but it is way more than that. There are a bunch of tabs on top of the page that shows everything from the campaign itself to the lastest in research. Like a very large number of cancers today, prostate cancer can almost be completely arrested… IF CAUGHT EARLY. So please check out the link, look around and only if you wish contribute.
And certainly speak to your doctor about what you can do to help lower your risk of being a statistic.
